Some minibus routes to change as of January 2
“Rīgas mikroautobusu satiksme” (RMS) informs about closing two minibus routes from January 2, 2016 due to insufficient number of passengers: No. 242 Central Railway Terminal – Imanta and No. 267 Centre – Sarkandaugava. We would like to draw passengers’ attention to the fact that other means of public transportation are available on these routes, including RMS minibuses, “Rīgas satiksme” buses, trams and trolleybuses which will deliver the passengers where they need.
Route No. 242 Central Railway Terminal – Imanta
As many sections of minibus route No. 242 overlap with minibus route 238 and the number of passengers is not sufficient, minibus route No. 242 will be closed. Meanwhile, the number of minibuses running on route No. 238 will increase, and so will also increase its traffic intensity on workdays: intervals will be cut from 16 – 27 minutes down to 12 – 14 minutes. In the direction of Imanta minibus route No. 242 overlaps with minibus routes No. 222, 238, 244, 246, 263 and 270 between the terminal and the National Library, but between Kalnciema Street and t/c Spice it overlaps with minibus routes No. 222 and 236. Between t/c Spice and Rostokas Street the route overlaps with minibus route No. 236, and between Kurzemes Avenue/Jūrmalas gatve and Kurzemes Avenue/Kleistu Street − with minibus routes No. 237, 238 and 241.
Route No.267 Centre − Sarkandaugava
Given the insufficient number of passengers, minibus route No. 267 will be also closed, as it partly overlaps with minibus routes No. 200 and 224 between Sarkandaugava and Lāčplēša Street/Brīvības Street, and with minibus route No. 208 between Lāčplēša Street/Avotu Street and the Central Railway Terminal. Passengers can reach either of this route’s terminals using public transport of “Rīgas satiksme” – buses No. 2, 11, 24 and 49, trams No. 5 and 9, and trolleybus No. 3.
Route No. 280 Bus station – Purvciems
Given the growing passenger flow, a new working day and Saturday schedule will be effective on this route as of January 2, 2016. To improve the availability of the route in the direction of the Bus station, these changes will be made as soon as road repair works on the 11th November Embankment are completed. Information about the changes will be published 10 days in advance. From now on minibuses will run to the 13th January Street, then on the 11th November Embankment, turn about and go back along the 11th November Embankment, Maskavas Street, Centrāltirgus Street to the terminal in Prāgas Street.
